After dinner, Billy and I went for a walk downtown and got ice cream cones.

According to Billy, it was actually gelato, but it tasted like ice cream to me. With our cones in our hands, we turned into the park and walked along the lake. As the breeze got cooler, he inched closer and closer to my side. By the time we made it back to my truck, he was pressed tightly against me, soaking up the body heat that seemed to radiate off me no matter what the weather was outside.

True to my word that I wanted to take things slow, we headed back to the doggy daycare to drop him off. Also, I still had a lot of work to do there.

Kona had behaved like a champ under the table at the restaurant and while we walked, but I could tell that she was tired and ready for bed. So, while Billy washed up, I put one of the small dog beds on the floor near his bed so she could stay with him while I worked.

I was in his room with the door open, kneeling next to Kona and reminding her to behave, when I heard Billy shuffle in behind me. I stood up and turned, almost losing my breath when I saw him wearing a clean T-shirt and a towel wrapped around his waist.

So many images of what was underneath that towel went through my mind, but I managed to keep a completely straight face and my eyes on his so as not to spook him. “Are you all cleaned up and ready for bed?”

Billy clutched both ends of the towel at his hip and nodded. “Yes, but…can you help me again?”

“Of course.” I kept my tone even so it didn’t seem like what he was asking for was out of the ordinary. “Why don’t you sit on the bed and tell me where I can find everything.”

Billy’s eyes dropped to his lap, but he pointed to the opposite side of the bed. “My backpack is under the bed over there.”

I dug around under the bed until I found it and brought it up onto the mattress near him.

“And my pajamas are in the top drawer.” He pointed to the side table.

Since his pajamas were put away, I assumed that the diapers were in his backpack. When I opened it up, I instantly recognized the package as being a brand specifically sold for kink rather than adult incontinence. Just another bit of information to file away.

With the backpack still open, I looked up at Billy. “Is there anything else you need? Maybe powder or cream?”

He shook his head before finally looking up at me. “I’ve never used those before. Do I need to?”

“If you haven’t gotten any rashes, then maybe not. But if you’d like, I can pick some up for tomorrow.”

Billy opened his mouth like he had something to say, but immediately closed it before clearing his throat. “If you’d like to try that, I’m okay with it too.
